Colour Compositions Studies - Mountain Landscapes
Following Nathan Fowkes workshop at Schoolism in London I attempted some compositions studies of Mountain Landscapes. Nathan gave a insightful lecture on the importance of Color and Light with emphasis on foundation knowledge in compositions. He is an industry veteran working at Dreamworks on some amazing projects like The Legend of Puss in Boots, How to Train your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda to name a few. I was inspired by his commitment to practice these value studies everyday and his sketchbooks are fasinating. Below are first attempts in Photoshop, each taking around 30mins. More of his work at http://nathanfowkes.blogspot.co.uk/

Inspire..

...Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.
But it’s hard to hold on to something that you know would never be yours in any way you think of, you just have to learn to let go and face the fact that while good things never last…some don’t even start…

Creature Design - Kangerbill
Following animal anatomy studies, below is a design process for a creature design. The Kangerbill is an evolution of a flightless bird with powerful hind legs. The Kangerbill uses its hind legs and under developed wings to jumps and fly medium distances to escape predators, and has a large sharp bill for defence and hunting food.
